Wonderful World-building in YA with Amanda Foody, Christine Lynn Herman, and Rory Power
July 30 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join the incredible panel of Young Adult (YA) authors Amanda Foody, Christine Lynn Herman, and Rory Power during a panel discussion about world-building, the creation of an entirely fictional world within Young Adult books.
AMANDA FOODY has always considered imagination to be our best attempt at magic. After a double life as an accountant preparing taxes for multinational corporations, she now spends her free time brewing and fermenting foods much more easily obtained at her local grocery store. She lives in Boston, MA with a hoard of books guarded by the most vicious of feline companions, Jelly Bean. Her books include Daughter of the Burning City, Ace of Shades and King of Fools. The next installment of The Shadow Game series, Queen of Volts, releases on September 1, 2020, and her middle-grade debut, Wilderlore: The Accidental Apprentice, hits shelves Spring 2021.
CHRISTINE LYNN HERMAN was born in New York City but raised around the world. She subscribes to the firm philosophy that home is where her books are. Currently, Christine and her books reside in Cambridge, MA, along with her partner and their extremely spoiled cat. Her books include The Deck of Omens and her debut YA novel, The Devouring Gray, which was an Indies Introduce and Indie Next Top Ten Pick.
RORY POWER grew up in Boston, received her undergraduate degree at Middlebury College, and went on to earn an MA in prose fiction from the University of East Anglia. She lives in Massachusetts. Her books include Longyear, Burn Our Bodies Down, and her latest work, Wilder Girls, a New York Times bestseller. “Celebrates the resilience of girls and the earthshaking power of their friendships. An eerie, unforgettable triumph.” –Claire Legrand, New York Times bestselling author of Furyborn
