MediaLovers Book Chat
December 8, 2019 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
The MediaLovers Book Club is not like your typical book club. We’ll offer a fast-paced discussion that includes books and authors, but also movies and TV, things to do, places to go, and current and historical events.
As one attendee said, “It feels like a TV talk show where you get to be one of the guests.”
UPCOMING IN DECEMBER by Rick Kotrba, Host
“We hope you can join us at The Book Market on Sunday, December 8 at 3 p.m.for our next MediaLovers Book Chat. As always, this will be a program of fast-paced discussion that includes books and authors, but also movies and TV, things to do, places to go, and current and historical events. No preparation is necessary. All are welcome to join in the conversation. We usually cover about a dozen topics, and the highlights at our next gathering will include:
THE MOVIE MUSICAL! (Respected film historian Jeanine Basinger offers a new tome that provides a delightful love letter to Hollywood musicals.)
ANTISOCIAL by Andrew Marantz (Online Extremists, Techno-Utopians, and the Hijacking of the American Conversation)
CHARLES DICKENS: An Abundance of Enduring Evergreens GREAT GIFTS (We’ll shamelessly pitch some of our favorite choices for holiday gift-giving.)
Martin Scorsese’s THE IRISHMAN and the book it is based on: I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES (and you’ll even hear a firsthand account about a personal encounter with the son of Jimmy Hoffa!)
HARRIET TUBMAN: The Movie, The Books A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Mr. Rogers and Good Feelings for All
TIME OUT MARKET CHICAGO (The new gargantuan food hall in Chicago ’s West Loop has opened.) Plus: A few surprises, and I’ll wax poetic about the fact that it’s a big world of books! Hope to see you on Sunday, December 8!
