Classic Rock with Mark Plotnick and Jim Summeria

March 28 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Barbara’s Bookstore in Vernon Hills will host a special event featuring two authors who know a thing or two about rock and roll. Veteran music photographer Jim Summaria and writer Mark Plotnick will discuss the acts and photographs featured in their book Classic Rock – Photographs from Yesterday and Today (Amherst Media).

Jim Plotnick (L) and Mark Summeria, co-authors of “Classic Rock: Photographs from Yesterday and Today,” were recent VIP guests of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where their book joined the Hall’s permanent library and archives collection used for research, education, and the preservation of rock-and-roll history.

Summaria will answer questions about his five-decade career as a rock concert photographer and the unique “yesterday and today” portfolio few contemporaries have. His exclusive photographs have appeared nationally and internationally.

The authors will also tell behind-the-scene stories of their VIP tour of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum where their book is part of the Library and Archives Collection used for education, research and the preservation of rock and roll history. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

Mark Plotnick, a writer and marketing research professional, is a lifelong devotee of classic rock era music and the blues. He also plays keyboards and, back in the day, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show with his maiden book voyage, The Smart Money Shopper.

Classic Rock has received endorsements and support from musicians such as Eagles Hall of Fame guitarist Don Felder and rock radio personalities like Pat St. John of Sirius XM channels “60s on 6” and “Classic Rewind.” The book ranks second among “The Top 25 Must Have Classic Rock Books” at the website Mental Itch.

The authors are also helping promote the new Illinois Rock and Roll Museum in Joliet. Currently under construction, the museum will honor its first Illinois Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees at a special ceremony scheduled for March 29th at the Joliet Renaissance Ballroom in Joliet, IL.
